Sound system install success
I just got my system done today and I am satisfied. Here is what I did
Amplifier: AudioControl LC 1300.5 with the acr control knob Subwoofer: two 12in Kenwood subs (from old car) Speakers: Pioneer ts-a653fh (2 way speakers rated for 75rms) Tweeters: I left stock
The system sounds great. I have yet to tune it to my liking but it sounds good right out the shop. I will play with the amp tomorrow. The setup is clean.
I was a little worried about the subs because they are 400 watts rms each rated for 4 ohms so it would be 800 total. This amp is only 4 ohm stable at 300w or 500w at 2 ohms. They were wired to be 2 ohms and they sound great. Still just enough juice for them.
I kept my stock speakers and oh man I can tell you that those things are a big POS and feel so cheap. Feels like they'll tear if I barely run my fingertip through them.
I originally come from a setup of 2 amps in my old car. 600 w 4 channel and 1950 watts mono amp and that amp gave 900 rms to power those subs. This is obviously nowhere near that power but it makes a big difference from having the stock system.
I did not want to have a setup too strong this time around because I feared messing up anything with the hybrid system. If anyone out there want to upgrade their system I say go for it.
