Eat what you want on vacation

I’ve (36F) been doing 1200 cal a day since October and have lost about 35 lbs. SW:165 CW: 130 GW: 122. I also go to Orangetheory Fitness 4-5x per week, but other than those classes I don’t do much else. I’m 5’2” for reference.

Last week I went on vacation with my family for spring break. I had anxiety about how I’d navigate eating, knowing the snacks, sweets, take out, and alcohol would be plentiful and I’d want to indulge. Well, I threw caution to the wind. I ate what I wanted, when I wanted it. I drank beers on the beach and sipped pina coladas with my siblings and ate ice cream with my nieces. I ate potato chips at the pool and didn’t workout once. It was fantastic and a much needed respite from normal, everyday life.

When I weighed myself after, I was up about 5 lbs than a week prior. I tried not to beat myself up about it and just get back on track. And you know what? 5 days later, I’m back to my pre vacation weight. So if you’re wondering how to eat 1200 calories on a vacation, just don’t. Enjoy the vacation from tracking as well. The “weight” I gained was probably minimal, most likely from the alcohol and water retention.

Moral of my story- eat and drink what you want on vacation. Get back on track when you get home, no sense in throwing the baby out with the bath water.
