Is Asus RMA really that bad?

My Laptop was defective and I want to return it asap. Unfortunately I heard a lot of bad things about ASUS customer service. Sometimes it takes months to get a part back and I can't imagine how awful the service might be for a laptop. I would ideally want a refund but it's too late for that as the defect revealed itself after the amazon 30-day return window. I want a replacement.

I should have bought from best buy.

I already have an RMA set up and I need to send it in. How can I ensure the best quality service
