Sudden framerate issues with games
Initially I've reported this to Warframe support (because I thought it only occured in that game), but I've come to let a more general audience know in case other users of the Acer Nitro brand has this issue.
My Nitro's model is the AN515-57-53SB with a 8 GB RAM expansion.
For further reference, this is the original support ticket I submitted: https://support.warframe.com/hc/en-us/requests/3670341
Now onto the actual problem: As the ticket says, this wasn't the first time I encountered the problem - this happened to me around the summer of 2023 too. The gist is that out of nowhere, my framerate is much, much lower than it should be, even though I was using settings that was running perfectly fine before. I could temporarily fix the problem by manually reinstalling the Nvidia graphics drivers before hopping on a game, which is far from ideal because it's inconvenient having to do it all the time, and I then have to go through many stutters from my device recaching shaders. Eventually it seemed to have fixed itself, but I don't know or can't remember the exact cause of it, so I have no idea how I would go on recreating this solution.
The problem reappeared around 4 days ago. I am unsure if plugging my adapter to a power supply that I typically don't use (as it belongs to my school) is relevant, but I'm putting it here just in case. Was playing Warframe, and then after a while my fans started jetting to maximum speed. Out of panic I closed the game, which didn't stop the fans. Neither did using Nitrosense to attempt to tone down the speed worked. Only restarting the laptop did.
Next thing I know, this familiar problem returned and now every game is capped at like 30 fps, even though everything was running perfectly fine before.
I'm curious if any owner of the Acer Nitro has experienced something like this, and if you actually managed to fix it, what steps did you take?
