Alienware Aurora R16 Desktop: Fast Startup vs. Hibernation
*Ok, I want to preface this and state that I DO know Windows 11 has broken Sleep Mode on a bunch of PC's, including the R15 and R16's. My daughter has an R13 and it Sleeps perfectly. My R15 NEVER went to sleep properly....the lights would go out, but the rear fan would continue running and the Video Card light would stay on..
I just got a new R16 machine and it has the same Sleep issues that my R15 had. So, in doing more research, I've seen differing opinions between using Fast Startup vs. Hibernation. I just like Sleep Mode because my PC will auto-power off after a specified period of time (I usually keep it set for 3 hours). I also know that Fast Startup does not "reset" your PC uptime, when you shut it down.
Now, in BIOS, under Power Options, there's a Deep Sleep option with is set to "Enabled in S4 and S5", by default. However, with this on and using Fast Startup, I cannot turn on/"wake" the PC with my Keyboard/Mouse after shutting it down. BUT...when setting this to "Disabled", when I shut my PC down, it seems to turn on the USB Wake Support (which I noticed is an oddly missing option in the R16 BIOS that was on my R15 and my daughter's R13) and I can turn on my PC with my Keyboard/Mouse.
Anyway, so what I am asking is, since Sleep Mode is FUBAR'd on these systems, what is the best BIOS "Deep Sleep Control" setting and should I be using Shut Down or Hibernate? And since Shut Down with Fast Startup enabled is kind of a "hybrid" Hibernation mode, does that affect which Deep Sleep setting I should be using?
Thanks in advance!
