My father had some scans today and it was discovered that one of his carotid artery is 100% blocked and cannot be fixed. His other is 50% blocked and the plaque build up is apparently where the brain sends a signal for how much blood to pump. He’s having trouble when he stands up and his blood pressure will drop out. He has had no strokes. This gets to my question.
If it’s deemed that he needs to have surgery to fix this plaque build up, how will they go about this? I assume getting blood to the brain is challenging when you don’t have a carotid artery to use and the risk of a stroke is probably high I’m guessing. Any insight would be amazing. I want to ask the right questions.
Thanks
