How do I set a boundary with my gf without seeming controlling

My gf wants to keep contact with her ex and I’m not open to that because they have caused complications in our relationship already, I’ve tried to tell her I’m a manor that won’t be controlling but it doesn’t go into her head. What can I say to her to get my point across while keeping her happy and comfortable?
