Headshot photography permission ?

I am a photographer and I take headshots of people, do I have the right to use these photos on my website to showcase my work ? Or do I need a permission from each person I took photos with ?

And I also take event photos Can I use these photos or should I go and ask each people who is on that photo ? Just doesnt make any sense.
