Just lost my first honor mode run

My first ever run was a draconian storm sorcerer on balanced, that was fun and easy. Went to do a tactician run with a Monk, also fun but not easy.

This was my 3rd run, so I was pretty familiar with the story and what to expect, but since I still like engaging in dialog options I did things that made RP sense, like talking to the paladins of Tyr to verify that they are indeed agents of Zareil

So I just found Karlach and recruited her. Straight to those fake Paladins of Tyr. I thought, I'll have my Tav get down the ladder and talk to them while everyone else hides since it makes RP sense.

Lesson learned. Don't engage with NPCs that you know will attack you. Combat started while 3 PCs were hiding, my Tav down to 1hp after the first round. Karlach, who was somehow in that dialog but was still hiding upstairs when combat started, was casually crouching while my Tav relieved 5ft of greatsword steel to the head.

So yea. I've seen the story, next time I'm just going to sneak those silly bastards and send them back to Avernus where they came from. Same with everyone else that I know will try to kill me. You're not getting the chance next time.

I was also way more irritated about losing it than I though I would be, even though it was only about 17 hours. Can't even imagine how some of yall get to the end and lose it. On to the next!
