Painting the trim of the E36

So i bought a lagoon green e36, but all the plastic trim was painted green at the factory as well, its started to fade and I prefer the black trim anyways. How would I go about painting it black, if I sand it back and paint it black, I feel like the black would look too shiny with a clear coat but im not too sure. Has anyone done this to their e36?
