Ally Bank for checking

I have a checking account with a local brick-and-mortar bank, but I use Ally Bank for some of my savings. I've been more impressed with Ally's quality of life features & superior interest rates than my local bank's.

Does anyone with an Ally checking account recommend them? I'd probably keep my local bank as a backup & for the occasional time I need to physically deposit a check somewhere.
