Is practicing on concrete bad for your knees?

So the reason I ask this, is that I saw an advertisement for VersaCourt which has some type of shock absorbers so there is less impact on your knees. I'm in no position to buy a basketball court, but it got me thinking. Is it worse to practice on concrete than a gym floor? I mean basketball courts are specifically made for gym sports which affect your knees a lot (basketball, volleyball, etc). I've heard that basketball courts have some "give" while concrete is 100% solid and there is no give whatsoever. Now I know just shooting around, nothing will matter as long as there's a hoop. I'm talking about practicing game speed moves and shots. So a lot of hard cuts and stuff, would concrete be a bad idea for this?
