The Outsiders Women’s Outfits

This may be discussed elsewhere, but I didn’t see a post about here. I finally got to see the show recently, and something I noticed that the women Socs are dressed like Power Puff Girls? Cherry looks very much like Blossom, and the other two like Bubbles and Buttercup.

Does anyone know if this is intentional?
