The Cheating Problem in Online Assessments – What Even Is This System?
I’ve given so many online assessments—UberShe++, BNY CodeDivas, Barclays Discovery, Walmart, ServiceNow, and more. And honestly, I’m frustrated.
The amount of cheating happening in these OAs is crazy. People have entire Discord servers, Telegram groups, and even paid solutions for these tests. Some don’t even bother solving—just copy-paste and move on. Meanwhile, those of us actually grinding DSA, upskilling, and putting in the effort sometimes don’t even make it past the OA because someone else finished the test in 5 minutes with a perfect score.
My seniors and friends constantly tell me that there's no point being "honest" in a system that supports cheaters and that I’ll end up being the loser. And honestly? I do agree. But I just don’t get it??
How do companies NOT figure this out? The OAs they make are insanely tough—there's absolutely no way someone is solving them legitimately in the time slots they give. And it's like they don’t even consider that it isn't possible to read three complex coding questions, understand them, and code them up in five minutes?! Like, this is actually insane.
And no, I’m not going to be the ever-so-great sacrificing fool who ruins my career over "honesty" or whatever. But WHAT? What do I even do?
Even if I do get selected, what happens when I actually need to use these crazy OA concepts in real life but I don’t know them because I didn’t have access to leaks?
And then there's cheating in CP contests like HELLO?
I'm just frustrated. Why is the system so flawed? I keep hearing about the most random, undeserving people getting into top internships and jobs, while some of the most hardworking, insanely smart people don’t.
I know the job market is messed up, but this? This is just too much.
so what I wanted here was genuine advice as to how to make it - with such a messed up system?
