Guy lied about his marital status.

I matched with this guy on Bumble. Our conversation went very well. He even mentioned that he had never been married. I mentioned it too. We even video called on Instagram. He was following me, but he didn't accept my request, so I wasn't following him. I got suspicious. I sent him a follow request from another account. He accepted it a few days later. After I saw his photos with his wife, I stopped talking to him. He sent me a new message asking how I am, but I didn't want to reply. I'm so disappointed. Why would someone lie about their marital status?
