Passport Stuck with Canada Post

I had to mail my foreign passport over to IRCC to get a new TRV stamped into it before the strike. IRCC released my passport to Canada Post the day before the strike on November 14. My passport is now stuck at a facility in Ottawa.

I had a flight on November 25 to finally see my family for the holidays after getting time off this year. I had to reschedule and then ultimately cancel my trip back home because there has been no way to get my passport back.

I’d been looking forward to the trip for months, and now all my friends and family have left and I’m stuck here on my own for the holidays. It’s been a very sad and stressful couple of weeks to say the least.

I do try and empathize with the workers, but the impact of this strike has been incredibly wide, and I wish everyday that this resolves soon.

I don’t even know if I’d be able to travel back anymore given how expensive flight tickets are now due to the holidays, not to mention everything I’ve lost in cancellation fees (and even Xpresspost, though in the grand scheme of things that is smaller than everything else).
