Hydrophobic Help
Purchased a car off of FB marketplace recently from an Indian guy (important for context).
Took it to a mechanic, everything’s fine, great condition etc.
I drive it back home in the rain, and I notice a massive hydrophobic sticker (?) on the back window. It’s impossible to miss when it rains.
Didn’t think much of it, people have all sorts of stickers on their cars for various things I’ve never heard of before. Thought it may have be a brand sticker that this previous owner was super keen on. Either way, I’m taking this thing off sooner or later.
Upon googling, I find out that ‘Haryana’ is not a Yokohama, Yamaha, or Havana associate. It is a state in India.
Again, I’m totally fine with people repping whatever they want, but the fact that:
- This detail was not mentioned before, during, or after purchasing.
- I don’t really want to be sporting a huge sticker referencing a geographical location.
- I am not even genetically or ethnically close to being Indian.
I’m at a total loss as I’ve tried borax, acetone, and isopropyl alcohol, it does not budge at ALL. I’ve tried rubbing, scrubbing, scraping, all of the typical cleaning manoeuvres.
Does anyone have any advice or experience with these hydrophobic things? How the hell do I get this thing off my car?
If all else fails, I am willing to replace the entire window…
