how to bond with new kitty

hi everyone! i went to the shelter today and fell in love with this 1 year old cat. he was super affectionate and loving and the shelter and kept head butting us and purring super loudly, so i girlfriend and i decided to take him home with us. he’s super timid now and hiding under the bed in the room we set up for him to get acclimated and comfortable since we already have a cat and obviously didn’t want to jump ship and put them together so suddenly. i just want tips on how to bond with him and get him out of his shell. i know it’s going to take time for him to feel comfortable and confident i would just like some tips on what to do. thank you!
