A Little Miracle - a True Story
Here’s my true story of a little miracle… This story takes place almost a decade ago, but it still gives me chills when I think about it. Jesus is so good and His ways are mysterious.
My sister Mae and I were both really poor at the time. Mae had lost a bunch of weight and really needed new clothes, but she only had $43 to her name and didn’t want to spend it all. So we went shopping at Thrifty Shopper in Endwell so she could get some essentials. She tried on some capris and some shirts and found what she needed for $23.
I was down to my last $20 and we needed essentials like toilet paper, so we ended up going next door to the Dollar Tree. My son Liam was probably 2 at the time, and had a habit of running from me in stores. I had a basket of stuff and had put my wallet in it because my hands were full. Well, Liam went running down the aisle and I dropped the basket and went after him.
We came back to the basket and we finished shopping. When we got in line, I looked in my wallet and my $20 bill was gone. I looked everywhere.
Mae said that someone must’ve stolen it when I left the basket in the aisle to get Liam. She offered to use her last $20 to pay for my stuff, and I reluctantly agreed because it was stuff we really needed. I was so frustrated with myself and felt awful that my sister was using the last of her money because of my mistake. But back then, we often shared what we had with each other because we were both going through hard times. We always had just enough to help each other…
Fast forward, we get back to my apartment and my sister is excited about her new clothes and wants to try them on again. So, she puts on the pair of capri pants and reaches into the pockets to straighten them out.
SHE FOUND EXACTLY $43 IN THE POCKETS.
The same pockets that she had already straightened out when she was in the store trying the capris on, and were empty. She’s absolutely certain that they were empty in the store!
You see, some will say this was just a coincidence, but I don’t believe that for a second. There could have been any amount of money in those pockets, but there was EXACTLY the amount that my sister spent. What are the chances??
I believe that it was a little miracle meant to show how much Jesus cares about the little things in our lives.
I hope this story encourages you today and I pray that you’ll be blessed with a little miracle too. 🫶🏻
