The State on Valoria
Welcome to the State of Valoria based on many different States around the USA like Pennsylvania, Illinois, and California. Geography wise its based in the Great L..akes region.
Lore: The State was founded in 1818 after separating from the Highlandia Territory in 1809 and was granted statehood 9 years later. The State is nicknamed the Land of Libertion due to the 16th President John Libertion serving 8 years as governor before running for president. The State became the economic engine of the Midwest for most of the 19th into the 20th century. Due to it being a major rail hub for people wanting travel to from Alderney City in the east to the West Coast.
In the 20th Century the state saw a shift in population from the cities like Lakeshore to more suburban towns like Pinecrest. The Construction on the Interstate Highway system in the 1950s only accelerated the decline in the cites. Highways like I-91 and I-55 divided large portions of low income community's in Lakeshore County. In the 60s saw a rise in state wide crime which would only continue into the early 90s.
By the turn on the Century saw cities make and comeback and once again saw a rise in population growth. The 2008 Financial crash saw massive economic damage done across the state with over 15 billion dollars lost in just 2009. The state has since bounced back from the recession and had been thriving ever since with over 30 fortune 500 companies located in the state.
Lakeshore: With a Population of 270,000 people as of 2024 its the largest city in the state. The city is famous for its magnificent skyline. Some of the most famous buildings in the country like the 110m Majesty the worlds first skyscraper built in 1885. It was the tallest in the state from 1885 to 1954 after being surpassed by the highly controversial 131m Bellway Tower 1. And the 286m tall Conquest Tower which has been the tallest in the state since 1983.
Patapsco City with a population 141,000 is the second largest city in the state. The Port of Patapsco is the busiest port in the Midwest providing access to the rest of the country via Lake Dearborn and Millsaw river. The Dearborn Key Bridge built in 1976 spans the harbor at 2.5 miles long making it the 2nd longest bridge in the state after the Lakeshore Skylink Tollway bridge.
Pinecrest County 19,000 is rural county mainly comprised of mountain's, small towns and forest. The highest mountain in the state being Mount Liberton is in the northern part of the state at 3360m high.
