Newish player here, looking for advice how to start/structure a city properly.

So I’ve had the game for a few years and had stints of playing it for a short while (kinda like the 2 week Minecraft phase we all have) and I thought I should mention first, I’m playing it on PS5 so no mods.

I see YT videos of people with such good looking cities, and I can never seem to work out how to start it?

You start with something like the above image and I never know where to go from there? I just seem to randomly build the highway across the map and never know where to take it or where to lead roads off of it? Also as a general rule of thumb where do you place for example an industrial/office zone? Like just off the highway or make another road that leads somewhere? Apologies for my lack of knowledge in city building but I really enjoy the progress and watching the city grow, I guess that’s why we play this game right?

I should mention aswell, I usually play with unlimited money/resources but would also be open to playing the normal way.

Thanks in advance for your advice.
