What to do during a house/EDM set?

I’ve been a working open format DJ at clubs and events since 2018 and the jobs are pretty straightforward. The tracks are usually 3 minute songs with mostly vocal parts, and most of what I do is blends, jump cuts, scratches, effects and echo outs. I don’t have to be too interesting because people are much more concerned about the songs themselves and I’m usually in some corner where people don’t notice me.

I’ve begun to livestream my own music, some of which are long house remixes, some of which are pop format 3 minute dance pop songs. In live-streaming the main focus is on me as I dj. And with house tracks there are often long instrumental sections.

So I’m standing there with the camera. I harmonic mix, use effects, adjust eq, find the next song, and layer drum parts and beats underneath the songs, but I still find long stretches where I’m not doing much but putting my fingers on the faders, dancing or talking to guests. Are there other things I can be doing during as a dj during the edm set to make it more interesting? Like what other dj techniques are out there?
