What do I do?

I've recently gotten into DnD and I've read all the rules in 5e and learned about all the 5e books etc. But I found out that dnd will be updated next year. Is it a must to play the new version of dnd? or can I stick with 5e until I have enough money to buy the new PHB, or just until I want to move to on one dnd ?
