How do you make villains feel intimidating?
Just wondering what are some dms methods of making intimidating villains and how to keep them intimidating throughout the game in general but also in the face of inevitable party sass.
To be clear my players do pretty much always respect the overall tone of my games and the sass/banter is part of the enjoyment so I'd never want it to stop, I'd just like to hear others thoughts.
Having the bbeg ignore the sass altogether feels like it would make them flat and void of a personality but I feel them having a clapback can make them seem significantly less menacing.
