Tips for Colonisation

so ive wanted to get into doing some colonisation now that im back from exploring, but i keep on seeing posts here of people having issues with where they placed their station, and ive heard that different stations have different effects on economy?

as well as all that i wondered do you as the owner of the system and stations get like, passive money from the stations operation once a system is set up?
