SSRVM scam by AOL (full story)
In a previous post I promised to shed light upon scams by AOL in education sector so.....,
Scams explained:
- They charge 60k a year for secondary students with no AC in the school, while a neighboring school provide AC in every class at just 40K a year fees with better teachers too.
- No real co-curricular activities except for Handball and Archery Handball: They charge 3k a month just for Handball practice and coaching for 2 days for 4 weeks(2X4=8). That too no real professional is hired to coach us and our own PE teacher coaches us. Scam: The PE teacher is the only one responsible for teaching 100 kids and it's not really possible for him to coach every student individually and he mostly chooses only the well known sports division students in the A team and B teams during tournaments. The best we commoners can do is the C team which I made as a Goalkeeper, while being better than the B team goalkeeper. So students basically pay 3k for playing friendly matches with their own classmates with no supervision or guidance from our PE teacher.
Daylight robbery tbh.
3) School trips charge way too much for way too less benefits. The school charges us 17-19k for a 6 day trip and specifically chooses a location which is at least a 1000-2000 km away so most of our time is used while travelling in the train. Our trip consisted of 6 days and 3 days were spent just in the train. So they basically charged us 15k just for 3 days of fun. Even if we deduct the main cost(hotel rent) that doesn't really explain the high fees as even in the hotel rooms we are crammed up in the group of 4-5. And after the trip ends some teachers overbook their rooms and decide to stay back and enjoy the location more while we head back for Home. These teachers stay their on our money and also our train ride back home is severely understaffed because of the teachers staying back.
This mostly sums up the three main scams of the school. Obviously they can't scam us too much otherwise the could lose their education license.
Side note: There's my class teacher from 10th grade who was a Kannadiga and had good connections in Bangalore ashram and treated us unevenly in our 10th grade. He would chit-chat with the popular kids(mostly rascals) who would butter him up every single day. And on the other hand would torment quiet backbenchers like me on the smallest of mistakes.
I never really complained about him thinking it was my last year and he held the Internal marks and I had to deal with it only for a few more months ,etc But he basically made my 10th Grade a living hell as I would get picked on or scolded at by him every other day.
4) They are now firing the most loyal/experienced teachers of the school for making some mistakes and hiring new and young teachers whose salary expectations are basically in pennies.
They are even given AOL work to do on weekends and are constantly kept under pressure of losing their job as teachers. So they have to comply with basically anything the AOL management throws at them whether it being salary in pennies or AOL work and volunteering in a bunch.
So same amount of fees which is already way higher than it should be and now the teaching quality has degraded too.
My friend has a younger sister who still studies at an SSRVM and she had to join 2 separate tuitions just to learn.
Is this fair?
Not only on the students but also on the OG teachers that were fired??
Good thing I graduated before these teachers were fired.
And that's the reason why I have lost all hope in AOL and in any other Humanitarian organization.
I am skeptical about them too being a scam.
Thank you.
