Delivery rerouted to local FedEx Office

Hello, have a weird situation that I haven’t seen before and no one at FE customer service has been able to help. I had a small package sent express this week, was supposed to arrive on Wednesday morning. By Wednesday afternoon the status changed to delivery N/A, while simultaneously sending me texts saying my package will arrive as scheduled by 9AM (it was 7PM at this point, so 10 hours past original estimate).

Thursday turns up nothing, I called and they opened an investigation. Friday comes and at 5PM the status suddenly changes to Delivered, and said it had been signed for by someone at 1PM. Package was NOT there, and after requesting proof of delivery I can now see it was delivered to a local FEDEX office.

The shipment says completed, no one has called me, and the same local office says they know nothing about it but that it was obviously delivered already.

Why would they send my package to another office and not the final destination??
