Downsides of how Garmin Watch integrates with the Apple Ecosystem?
Question: I'm fully invested in the Apple ecosystem (iPhone, iPad, AirPods, MacBook), but I'm hesitant about the Apple Watch Ultra 2. I am deciding between an Apple Watch or a Garmin one for its health tracking features (sleep, heart rate) and to help me stay organized (alarms, reminders, calendar integration).
I know that the Apple Watch will have better integration with the Apple Ecosystem. But how is it like using your Garmin Watch with your Apple Devices? Is the gap, in terms of how nicely it integrates, big and noticeable? Are there things that bother you, as a Garmin Watch user, about how your watch fits with how you use your other devices, etc?
Some more details for context:
My lifestyle:
- Mid-30s, healthy tech worker.
- Not very active (I walk 10k steps daily, though.)
- Slightly overweight but working on weight loss, good progress and hitting target weight soon!
- No extreme sports or consistent exercise routines.
- Don't plan on using the watch for social media and non-essential email notifications
My priorities:
- Health tracking: Sleep, heart rate. Even though I'm healthy, I think this might be useful alongside reading my fitness score.
- Battery: I want something with a good batter and Garmin is the clear winner here.
- Organization: Alarms, reminders, calendar integration. (ADHD-diagnosed, but I don't take medication daily. Only when absolutely needed, so I want to experiment with usage of a wearable device to help me stay organized and assist me keeping my life on track.)
- Budget: Budget is no issue. Up to $1500 (employer-provided with wearable devices as eligible expense. I hate the gym so I don't plan on using it for a gym annual sign-up). I don't mind buying the expensive Fenix 8, for example.
