Just Subscribed To Boosteroid
Ok so I decided to finally give it a try. I have the servers in my home-country so thought to just do it and see how it is.
Now some background:
I am a founder and I have used both Ultimate and Priority tier on my 1080P LAPTOP, important mention... I have always went with GFN scaling option, meaning on Ultimate and now on Performance, I have always went with the highest resolution 4K and now 1440P respectively (which always ended on giving me a image quality a lot better and crisper than on native).
Another mention, while I do know from experience how much better Ultimate runs, and how much smoother it is, since they "upgraded" Priority and I've changed to this tier, I'm finding it quite good, and the difference in smoothness and image quality is only marginal, with the last (image quality) being mostly noticeably better on Ultimate when looking at more distant objects or landscapes, close up some objects on Ultimate look as if Sharpness was set on 100% while on Priority they look as if set on 60% (Personal opinion objects look more natural on the les sharpened Priority tier, but from time to time I would find it interesting to also have them Sharpened to the max as on Ultimate)
Boosteroid Actual First Impressions:
Back the topic of this discussion though... Boosteroid.
First thing that I noticed and didn't expect it, was that I couldn't any longer set the stream resolution to 4K or any other resolution that I chose to set it to other than that of my screen's native, as I can in GFN
Noticing this, and not knowing about it previously almost prompted me to ask for a refund and throw Boosteroid in the closet of my mind forever.
But then I gave it a try...
Booted up Steelrising, and before tweaking any settings and actually realizing that I was running it on 25BitRate, again, I was extremely disappointed.
After I figured out how to tweak certain things, AND STILL NOT KNOWING TILL THIS DAY if I should stream on 120FPS or 60FPS, I kind of got it in a good spot, and well everything was working a lot better AND ->
-> Boosteroid on 1080P looks almost as good as GFN in 1440P, which was surprising!
Now the smoothness, jumping on the same game on GFN I noticed even on Priority how much smoother and native it feels.
At one point it felt as if even though the stream was on 60FPS, everything felt as if it was running on less when compared to GFN.
NOW since they added STALKER 2 XBOX version on Boosteroid, I tried it also there as to compare it to GFN...
STALKER 2 looks better on 1080P Boosteroid, mildly but noticeably than GFN on 1440P, but still GFN wins when it comes to smoothness. While first testing it on Boosteroid, I actually didn't even mind the smoothness, thought it was actually running smooth and great, but then launching it on GFN realized that GFN still runs it better.
CONCLUSION:
Other games like Kingdom Come Deliverance and Ara History Untold, both, running them in parallel on one service and the other, can also say that I can't really say that one looks better than the other overall, as they look different, feel different but realize that if I was not comparing one service to the other, especially on Boosteroid, I would of thought that the games run just perfect and look just as great...
GFN Ultimate is still KING, at least for me with a 1080P Monitor, but as mentioned since the "Upgrade" the quality on Priority/Performance is still great for me, while Boosteroid I have no idea how it would look on 4K, but the 1080P stream is quite close to what I would get with a Priority even Ultimate GFN stream (as mentioned above Priority, now on 1440P, and Ultimate 4K when it comes to image quality alone, don't show much of a difference on my screen).
So ya... Just thought I would share my thoughts and experience on this. Now probably, I'll actually try and sit down and actually play some games for real, and of course I'm looking at those games that we don't have on GFN: Hogwarts Legacy, RDR 2 & Elden Ring... Lies of P and maybe some others...
Lets see... well...
Happy Streaming and a Good Upcoming Streaming Year for Everyone!
