Picking the right headphones for immersive games
As a complete audio noob, I've been trying to find the right pair of headphones that I will exclusively be using for gaming. To be more specific, I only ever play single player, immersive games.
My main priorities are (in order):
- Comfort: if the headphones aren't comfortable, I'm not going to want to put them on.
- Soundstage: from what I've learned, a wide soundstage will help selling that feeling of immersion.
- Bass: a decent bass can definitely add to the overall experience of something like an adventure game.
From my research, two perfect candidates would seem to be the TYGR 300 R and the HD 490 Pro with the velour pads.
Now, even though the HD 490 Pro get constant praise from those who own them, many of those same people tend to agree that they are somewhat overpriced. Personally, I'd like to spend around $200, but I would consider spending more if the difference was that noticeable, and the experience that much better.
And of course, I'm also open to different suggestions.
