Home Network Upgrade Advice
Hi All,
I am looking to upgrade my home network from an all in one router/switch/WAP (Asus RT-AC88U) to separate units. My goals are to upgrade my network security, add an IoT VLAN and get better Wifi coverage by using 2 APs at each end of the house rather than 1 in the middle. I'm pretty new to this and am looking to get feedback on 2 possible solutions I have found.
TP Link Omada System
- ER707-M2 Gateway
- SG2218P switch
- OC200 Controller
- 2 x EAP 653 Access Points
Ubiquiti UniFi System
- Cloud Gateway Max
- Lite 16 PoE Switch
- 2 x U6+ Access Points
I have 3 x TVs, 1 x PC, 1 x Printer and 1 x Home Security System all connected via ethernet and about 8 other devices on Wifi (phones, ipads etc.). I also run a plex server off my PC (I do not want to open the ports externally) but am not really looking to build a standalone server at this point. i will probably add some kind of PoE doorbell as well.
Any feedback would be appreciated. I don't currently have any devices that can use Wifi 7 so I figure this is something I can upgrade the switch and APs to in the future. All the wiring in my house is Cat 6 and my internet connection is FTTP 1000/50. What do you think? Is there anywhere I could save money or spend a little more?
Thank you.
