Finally Found One! Mangusta!

I am excited. Yesterday at a local toy car show with my son, I found the number one car I had been looking for at shows/in the area, the RLC 1971 deTomaso Mangusta in green race livery.

My favorite types of cars to collect are endurance race cars and sports/super cars used in racing. The GT-40 is typically my favorite race car, but the deTomaso Pantera comes quickly behind the Ford. It feels like the spiritual successor to the historic Ford race car, similar style and form function, but with a 70s style to it. But deTomaso is especially exciting for me because of my Argentinian heritage. The company was started by Alejandro de Tomaso, an Argentinian race car driver that went to Italy to begin designing cars. The logo for the company is the Argentinian flag running down rather than to the side, with the family T for de Tomaso over it.

Loving the Pantera as much as I do, I have been wanting to have a Mangusta in my collection for quite some time now. But not any 1/64 scale Mangusta. I wanted a race car version with number, livery and sponsors. Which meant the 2023 RLC release.

Yesterday I found it in person. I am going to do pics of the Panteras and Mangusta together soon.
