We bought a flat for less 50K
So just bought me and my partners first home in Scotland (moved from London) and would like to comment how much easier it is up here.
Home buyers report gives a brilliant insight to the state of the property before even viewing, the overall process of buying was a lot more streamlined and it felt less likely to collapse last minute. For reference me and my partner got screwed towards the end of trying to buy our first flat in England. We were multiple surveys deep in and all that money just burned in front of our eyes.
Most properties being Freehold also really helped us and is something I despise about England, we were delighted by the amount of options you had for freeholds. Overall I would recommend moving to Scotland if you have the ability to uproot your current job/commitments. We paid less than 50K for a one bedroom flat that was newly painted and had basically no issues or hidden costs. Imagine if England had that?
Anyway just a little post, hopefully it can inspire people who are young like us who were hopeless. If you can save 50K with a partner you could cash buy a nice freehold flat.
