Neighbor Shot My House I need some advice

We got home the other night and the mirror by the door was broken. We checked the ring camera in the living room and was able to identify it happened between 3:53 and 3:56 pm the day before. Looking around the room I noticed the bullet hole on the other side of the room.

So we called the police. While waiting for them, we walked around the property. We found the bullet on the floor and another hole in the kitchen.

I walked outside and realized it came from the direction of my shed. So I go and check the far side of the shed to find 14 holes in the side of my shed. Of those 11 came out the other side, 9 hit the house and 2 made it inside.

Multiple holes through 2 sheets of plywood and 6 sheets of plexiglass. A nice hole though my 14” band saw as well.

The police get there they collected a few slugs took pictures and said someone would come back during the day to look around more.

The next morning I am laying in bed and realize the holes in the plywood were too low for the 14 entry holes outside. So I go out and look and find 8 more lowers behind the shrubs. So I call the police back, as it is now daytime a different sheriff comes out.

After talking for a bit he asks if I know where the shots came from and I pointed to my neighbor. He asked if we have issues and I say no, just look at all the holes the point strait to their front porch. He asks if the police the night before talked with them, which the did not, he was not happy about that and said he would go talk with them and have a look around.

An hour later more cops show up. They found multiple bullet holes in the tree in their front yard. So someone was standing in their front yard with what I am assuming is an AR, with jacketed rounds because that’s what we found, shooting at a tree and lighting up my property behind it. This also means they shoot over the road. In Texas this is all a class 3 felony.

Today while taping the holes up we found another slug and more holes. Total count 26, 11, 9 not individual these are round that went into one wall (26) through the shed out the other wall (11) across the yard into the house (9) and 2 making it inside.

A sheriff came out and got the new slug we found. I know they are still investigating this. I hope the make an arrest. But in the meantime I am now trying to figure out what to do next.

My insurance deductible is $1850 The walls are fiber cement siding, I could patch them. But ideally the slats should be replaced. The police know the rounds came from the neighbors yard, but I don’t know if they know who or ever will.

If I make a claim, does this fall on me or because it is known to have come front their property does it fall on them. I don’t want to pay $1850 and have my rates go up, but if their policy is responsible that changes things.
