Another "landlord stole my security deposit, what do" post
My landlord and I agreed in writing to end my lease a month early if she could find a new tenant in time. Part of this agreement was that I wouldn't pay my last month's rent.
Well, she found a new tenant and moved them in during the last month of my lease, but kept my security deposit to "pay for my last month's rent." This obviously wasn't what we agreed to. I also left the place better than how it was when I moved in, so the deposit wasn't used for damages. I've reached out to her about it but she's not responding.
Should I have a lawyer send her a letter?
