Anyone finding the OM-1 is less durable?

I’ve been shooting with Olympus gear professionally since 2016 and I’ve spent tons of time talking about the brand and m43 and how much I loved the whole system.

Invested in the OM-1 early 2024. Couple weeks ago the IS system failed, bricked the camera.

This error is all over the internet as a very common problem, but I’m two months out of warranty so I’m out of luck.

Before I suck it up and spend $$$ to fix it, I’m weighing my options. This camera was very lightly used compared to my Olympus bodies and lenses - I mean I still use an EPL-7 that’s been beat to death and it works great, where this camera didn’t have a ton of use or travel and I really did baby it as my first new camera in a decade (my others were all purchased used).

I did expect some decline when the brand was sold, but I wasn’t thinking they would skimp out on one of the things that really sets the Olympus cameras apart, and that’s the durability and reliability.

So before I spend half my paycheck to fix this, I wanted to see if anyone else was having durability issues or if this one is just a lemon and I’ve got bad luck.
