Any advice on saving points (and stars)?

Hey great people, I find myself always very low on points… I want to spend on workshop on team primes, triple pack and team selective impacts but it’s to expensive… I want to upgrade my players too and I think that’s why I can’t save for packs… my team has a lot of spots to fulfill so I want to try my luck to see if I can get special cards of the best years of Devers, Greenwell, Rice, Valentin.. I’m the red sox.

Any tips on saving and EARNING points (especially) and stars? What is more worth it to buy / invest in the game Vs never spend / what is not worth it? Thanks.
