Picked up new MY Juniper - Random observations and AMA

Picked up yesterday. I enjoyed being driven home (we also have a 2021) Some observations that surprised me (so you won't find every difference). I add as I go. Not all of these are Juniper things (e.g. factory camera calibration or profile transfers).

Juniper things

  • Fremont made. Haven't found flaws yet.
  • Pickup lot was full of cars, at least another 6 couples and families there picking up cars. Majority was legacy MY. One M3. Cybertrucks were a bit further away, not sure how busy that lot is.
  • It came with an unexpected CCS adapter (and mobile charger and J1772). That's another $300 value (0.5% of the purchase price :-)
  • I like the blind spot warning dots more than I thought. Not that I need them as the car was driving.
  • The vents on the floor are differently placed. I think a pebble will enter the ducts on a hard brake. I put the same mesh covers on as in legacy.
  • Front bumper camera is nice when fronting into parking.
  • First problem. The second designated driver has great posture and hates the forward curved seat headrest. Edit: further fiddling with seat adjustment and especially lumbar support improved things to acceptable, but not good. Driver was ok with the 2021, and I didn't think there is a real difference.
  • the liners from the 2021 for the trunk and the subtrunk work. The side wells from the old one don't fit.
  • Rear camera doesn't have the corners blocked by the MY rear anymore and no longer shows the license plate. That's nice. The arrangment backing up is also with the rear camera below. Not sure when that changed, or if it can be configured. *The mobile connector came with a 14-50 adapter.
  • There is a 12V in the main center console compartment now, not longer in the armrest. The armrest has a single USB-C
  • Overhead gear shift is not working. (Edit: it just takes a lot more force than I expected)

Non Juniper things

  • Pick up was self-service, smooth and quick.
  • The factory calibration that allows them to self-drive to the truck for shipping also allows you to drive off the lot with FSD and all the way home. I worried about a curb on a parking lot and took over, but it probably would have been fine. Otherwise smooth perfect ride home.
  • Cameras are so crip (V4), screen is a bit faster (Ryzen, my 2021 has atom)
  • Profiles transferred over including Tidal login. Nice. Could listen to The Warning on the way home. The driver seat settings were off, though.
  • The interior key card reader is under the driver side wireless pad. Keys were paired.
  • I wanted to pair TeslaFi before driving off the lot, but forgot one step. It still picked up the whole route, though. If you want everything logged, might as well do it from the beginning. You get two weeks free with a referral.
  • The manual pops up on the screen every time. It seems I just have to wait a few dayss *Screen reboot is so much faster especially the initiation.
  • I assigned camera to left wheel long click. That's gets one icon out of the quick access bar on screen.
