Best razor for shaving?

This is specifically for shaving my face. I've tried a safety razor before, which I know is recommended, but I keep cutting myself and I never get a clean shave. :( I don't know if my technique is off or my blade is just bad, but I've so far just opted for the Gillette Mach 3 razors, which don't give me cuts.

Any advice on razors?
