Neuroma Surgery - What to expect
Hi everyone,
I'm basically devastated. I've suffered a median nerve neurotmesis at wrist level in my right hand 5.75 months ago and surgery (neurorrhaphy; direct repair) was 5 months ago. I've already recovered full motor function. The palm of my hand has already good sensory activity but it's still developing in my fingers.
The process:

On the other hand, I've got all the symptoms of a traumatic neuroma at the site of injury (dysaesthesia; unpleast sense of touch although it's not painful at all, Tinel's sign) and the nodule is palpable.
I'd like to know what to expect after surgery. As a neurolysis is practically an extirpation, probably some of the healthy axons might as well get damaged or removed accidentally.
- Has anyone done this here?
- Will my sensory function be reestablished at least to an acceptable point? Or I might get permanent numbness in some of the areas the median nerve innervates?
- Is there any possibility that my motor function also deteriorates after surgery?
Please, I'd like to know everything I should about this procedure.
Thanks for reading.
