Why did you start putting your faith into a (your) religion?

Atheist here asking religious people. I do understand why people promote the good values and morals of most of the religions, and im all for that. What i don’t quite grasp is what was the process of believing in a specific god, or prophet, or religious text, or whatever it is. Is it the environment and community of your uprising? Is it the need of a spiritual support or guidance? How did it start for you?
