New to Willmington

Hey everyone I’m Cal, I’m 19M and I’m gonna be in Willmington for 3 months for work, I’m English and I’ve never been before, is there anything I should be aware of/culture wise I don’t wanna accidentally offend anyone with my own slang like cigarettes for me are called fags, and a lot of people give me looks for it but it’s a genuine term here, anyway any help would be wonderful or just anyone to show me around!!
