Eating more

Who else eats more calories during the week leading up to and week of your period? I am on a weight loss journey and normally I’m good on 1600 calories a day. I’m 196, I know this is a lower intake than I’m supposed to but I’m also on metformin and I just don’t eat a lot day to day. I find when I’m leading up to and on my period though, I have salt and sugar cravings! Anyone have any tips or hacks to get through this? Or do I just need to give myself grace during this time?
