IMPACT LEADERSHIP: SENATORS DISCUSS INCREASING OVP BUDGET – GATCHALIAN

Senator Win Gatchalian revealed that senators are considering increasing the budget for Vice President Sara Duterte's office for 2025.

In a radio interview on Saturday, November 16, Gatchalian mentioned ongoing discussions about a potential budget increase, though he did not specify the exact amount.

"Ang vice president, marami rin lumalapit at humingi ng tulong sa kanya. Nationwide 'yan. Kapag umiikot ang isang vice president [sa] mga kababayan natin, tutulong ka dahil vice president ka," he explained, emphasizing the vice president's role in providing assistance nationwide.

The Senate has already approved the Office of the Vice President's (OVP) budget of P733 million for 2025, which matches the amount passed by the House of Representatives. This budget was reduced by P1.3 billion after Duterte and her staff opted not to attend the House budget deliberations.

Duterte has warned that the budget cut would lead to the layoff of approximately 200 employees.

Once the Senate finalizes its version of the General Appropriations Bill, a bicameral conference committee, including House members, will convene to reconcile any differences between the two chambers. #BantayBudget2025
