Help from Ontario Canada to Philippines ideally Cebu

We are visiting Philippines from Ontario Canada (Ottawa) near Montreal and could go to Toronto. Seems all flight are around $2400 CND from late December for end Of January.? Any tips? Will be 3 adult 2 kids. Any tricks to bring this flight cost down?
