Poco X3 NFC - rapidly switching between apps - package installer?

For the last month my Poco X3 NFC shows some strange behaviour.

About once every couple of days if I unlock the phone it looks like it is automatically switching between apps rapidly. To resolve it I normally end up having to swipe to close apps and then turn off the phone.

When this happens I can see that "Package Installer" is one of the running background apps. Should I try and remove that?
