Necromancy early? (New to rs3)

Completely new to RS3 in its entirety so I’m learning about 10 million things every day but is necromancy a viable option to use for my main form of combat xp/ levels? Are there any good guides for Ironmen to train it? What is the gear progression like? Solid enough for all my questing, slayer, and future bossing needs? Or would it be better for me to focus my combat stats on a different method? Any and all advice is greatly appreciated!
