Multiple Apartments

I hope maybe someone has some input on this one. It is a tough situation that involves a family member. I have a niece that has completely cut off her family and is involved with a controlling spouse.

In the last 48 hours multiple family members have received calls from a collection agent about unpaid apt rent in Fl. She lives in Maryland.

It was 10 apartments in Orlando. How in the world would one person be able to rent 10 apartments at once? They were expensive units that were all leased. There were evictions on all of them that were processed in Orange County, so it did actually happen.

The rent alone would have been 25 K a month ( she paid for about 4-5 months). She makes 75 K. The spouse does not work.

What would the angle be to rent all of these apartments? It almost seems impossible to be approved for that. She does have home that would have appreciated a good bit but she is only 33 and there is no way she is closed to that much equity.
