A theory about our ghosts, their deaths, and the bigger picture
I've spent the last four days in a tailspin thinking about what the actual fuck is happening at SRHS. Simon and Wally aside, Mr. Martin mentioned a bigger evil inside the high school. From everything we've learned in this last season, I think that evil, be it a "thing" or something less tangible, is reliant upon the deaths to be released.
- The death map shows that there is a good chunk of the school that has been untouched by death. It's also interesting that no two deaths have occurred in the same place, besides the ones where multiple deaths happened simultaneously.
- We see the energy shift when ghosts enter their scars, and learn that the energy created when enough scars are occupied could be great enough to destroy the boundary around the school. What if the amount of energy needed to release whatever 'thing' this is requires deaths in all major rooms of the school?
- The deaths seem to happen in a fairly routine timeline-- we have at least one confirmed in every decade after the fire, minus the 2010s.
- 1958: Janet/Mr. Martin
- 1963: Rhonda
- 1972: Dawn
- 1977(ish?): Yuri
- 1983: Wally
- 1987: Mina
- 1994: Charley
- 2004: Band kids
- 2023: Maddie, Simon (not deaths in the usual sense, but it's too big of a coincidence that they fit into this timeline so perfectly)
Aside from Janet, Mr. Martin, and the 2010s, this is every 10 years twice a decade, almost on the dot. There are other deaths that we know very little about that could very well fill in these gaps.
Anyway, this is probably gibberish and I might come back to re-theorize at some point, but if you see this, know that I'm in the post season 2 trenches with you!
