If you’re working on a side project and need to bring in a freelance developer, how do you protect your work?

I get that NDAs are a thing, but let’s be real, if the freelancer is in another country, legal enforcement can get tricky. So how do you handle it? Do you rely on trust, only share limited access, or have other safeguards in place?
